My Journey to Lasting Wellness

Hi, I’m Robin Yount, and I understand the fear, pain, and frustration that come with diverticulitis because I’ve lived it. The endless cycle of flare-ups, the anxiety around eating, and the exhaustion of trying to piece together advice that doesn’t work—it can feel overwhelming. But I’m here to tell you, there’s hope, and you’re not alone.

Where It All Began

Growing up, I always struggled with IBS and gut issues. It was something I learned to live with, but by my mid-30s, everything came to a head.

At 35, I was in my second marriage, navigating the challenges of an abusive relationship, raising two children—a new baby and a rebellious teenager—and dealing with the emotional toll of my grandmother’s declining health. That period was an overwhelming storm of stress, exhaustion, and emotional strain. The combination of chronic stress and neglecting my health finally caught up with me, leading to the diagnosis that would change everything: diverticulitis.

The Diagnosis That Changed Everything

The infection had spread across my colon, into my lung, and around my pancreas. For days, the doctors worried it might be pancreatic cancer. When the colonoscopy revealed it was diverticulitis, I felt relief—but that relief was short-lived. The only advice I received was to take antibiotics, eat a low-residue diet, and “add fiber later.”

But instead of getting better, I got worse.

The Turning Point

For six years, I suffered from repeated flare-ups, cycling through antibiotics that drained my energy and wrecked my gut even further. I developed more pouches throughout my colon, battled anemia, and faced autoimmune issues. I managed to keep up with my responsibilities, but it took everything I had—and I couldn’t enjoy my life.

Eventually, my doctors told me surgery was my only option. The thought of losing part of my colon was terrifying, but I refused to accept that as my only choice. Mainstream advice had failed me, so I decided to take a different path.

The Holistic Path to Healing

I started by changing how I ate. I eliminated gluten, processed foods, and added sugars, and I focused on nourishing my body with healing foods like bone broths, smoothies, and whole, nutrient-dense meals. I learned how to gradually rebuild my gut with the right balance of foods, giving my body the chance to recover.

I also began to focus on managing my stress. I turned to yoga and Zumba as both exercise and a way to calm my nervous system. I worked on my emotional healing, addressing the trauma and stress that had been weighing me down for years. Piece by piece, I started to rebuild my health, and over time, I began to feel like myself again.

Why I Created Diverticulitis Rescue Yourself

Now, over 12 years later, I’m proud to say that I’ve been flare-free and antibiotic-free. My health is better in my 50s than it ever was in my 30s.

This experience inspired me to create the Diverticulitis Rescue Yourself Program, a holistic mind-body approach to managing diverticulitis. At the core of this program are the 4 Stages of Eating for Diverticulitis, which I developed to help others safely and confidently navigate their diets and rebuild their gut health. But this program is more than just food—it integrates nutrition, mindfulness, movement, and self-care to help you take control of your health step by step.

What You’ll Learn in the Program

Through this program, you’ll learn to:

  • Safely reintroduce fiber and nourish your gut with the 4 Stages of Eating.
  • Use mind-body practices like yoga and meditation to calm your nervous system and reduce inflammation.
  • Address the root causes of your symptoms, rather than just managing flare-ups.
  • Build confidence in your body and regain your energy and vitality.

Take Back Control of Your Health

If you’re ready to move beyond the fear of flare-ups and take back control of your health, I invite you to join the Diverticulitis Rescue Yourself Program. You don’t have to do this alone—there is a way forward, and I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Wishing you health, happiness, and hope,
Robin 🫶🏻

"Thank you so much, Robin. I’m sure you can imagine the deep gratitude I feel in my bones and heart. Like you, this illness has been a blessing in its way, a profound teacher. It does get easier, but it is stubborn to change all of those habitual patterns and cravings and be patient until the new neural pathways become established. Just yesterday I walked down the chips aisle and barely skipped a beat! Nope. My heart is absolutely filled with love for you and what you have done and do for all of us. ❤️🥰"

"Robin is amazing! She's really sweet and understood everything I was going through in my life.

She made simple suggestions for changes in my diet and helped me figure out which changes were feasible immediately, and which ones I should try a little further down the road. She also gave me a lot of new suggestions I hadn't heard before, which I look forward to incorporating into my diet.

Robin is an excellent coach! She's fun to chat with and full of great ideas! I look forward to working with her again in the future!"

"I was told to start adding in fiber by the docs after yet another DV diagnosis last year. What that did for me was lead to another attack in about 3+ weeks. That’s when I found this protocol, and started to heal my gut. It can take quite a while to do so, but no major flares for me in over nine months. Read and understand the guides, journal, and follow the four stages of the protocol. That’s where your healing will begin – best to you."
